       1- 1915 Sea Victory Celebration
           **Çanakkale / March**
The Gallipoli campaign took place at Gallipoli peninsula in Turkey from 25 April 1915 to 9 January 1916, during the First World War. *** A joint British and French operation was mounted to capture the Ottoman capital of Constantinople, and secure a sea route to Russia. The attempt failed, with heavy casualties on both sides. ***

















2- Izmir International Fair
    **Izmir / September**

İzmir International Fair is the oldest tradeshow in Turkey, considered the cradle of Turkey's fairs and expositions industry, and is also notable for hosting a series of simultaneous festival activities.













3- Traditional Kirkpinar Oil Wrestling
    **Edirne / June-July**

Oil wrestling (in Turkish: yağlı güreş) is the Turkish national sport. It is known sometimes as "grease wrestling" because the wrestlers douse themselves with olive oil. The wrestlers are called "pehlivan" meaning "hero" or "champion".











4- Haci Bektas Veli Commemoration Ceremony-

Hacı Bektaş Veli was an Islamic mystic, humanist and philosopher from Khorasan who lived approximately from 1209-1271 in Anatolia. Every year he is commemorated by thousands of people from all around of Turkey and from Europe in Nevşehir.
















5- Altin Portakal (Golden Orange) Film Festival
    **Antalya / October**

The Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival (Turkish: Antalya Altın Portakal Film Festivali) , held annually since 1963 in Antalya, is the most important national film festival in Turkey.





6- Mevlana Commemoration Ceremony
    **Konya / December**

He was a 13th-century Persian poet, jurist, theologian, and Sufi mystic. *** His original works are widely read in their original language across the Persian-speaking world. Translations of his works are very popular in other countries. His poems have been widely translated into many of the world's languages and transposed into various formats; He has been described as the "most popular poet in America" in 2007. ***















 7- April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day

    **anniversary of the establishment of
        Turkish Grand National Assembly**
The Grand National Assembly of Turkey was established on 1920, April 23. Then, Atatürk presented that special day to children as Children's Day. The day is celebrated annually in Turkey.
















8- May 19 Commemoration of Atatürk and
    Youth and Sports Day   
     **the arrival of Atatürk in Samsun, and
    the beginning of the War of Independence**


The Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day, or simply Atatürk Commemoration (Atatürk'ü Anma) or Youth and Sports Day (Gençlik ve Spor Bayramı), is an annual Turkish national holiday celebrated on May 19 to commemorate the start of the Turkish War of Independence.
*** May 19, 1919 is the day Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, then Mustafa Kemal, who would become independent Turkey's first president, landed on the main peninsula of Turkey to begin leadership of the liberation effort. During the course of his term as president, Atatürk himself proclaimed May 19 as "Youth and Sports Day." After the death of Atatürk, the day serves to honor the country's founder. Children sing the national anthem, play sports, parade, commemorate Atatürk and are reminded of the values of democracy and Turkey. ***
















9- August 30 Victory Day
    **victory over invading forces in 1922**

Victory Day ( local name: Zafer Bayramı) on August 30 is a national holiday in Turkey to commemorate the victory in the Battle of Dumlupınar, the final battle in the Turkish War of Independence in 1922.




10- October 29 Republic Day
   **anniversary of the declaration of the Turkish Republic**

On October 29, 1923, the Turkish constitution was amended and Turkey became a republic. This formally declared the dissolution of the Ottoman Empire. Republic Day ( Turkish: Cumhuriyet Bayramı ) is celebrated throughout Turkey every year.
*** Commemorative events usually begin in the afternoon on the previous day. In observance of the holiday, government offices and schools close for a day. Also, there is a fireworks show in the İstanbul. ***
